youth
what we do
Two primary ways we seek to serve and lead the youth is through Redemption Tucson Youth Nights (see details below) and mentorship. Mentorship is an opportunity for youth to spend regular time with a person in our church, processing the ups and downs of life and being encouraged to lean into the gospel and grace of Jesus and His Kingdom.
We also hold various summer events, a winter retreat and a Redemption wide summer camp.
who we are
Redemption Tucson Youth is an environment for 6th-12th grade students that feels like a team. But rather than winning games, our hope is to love and know Jesus deeply and experience his presence together in every part of life (family, school, sports, music, clubs, friendships.)
Redemption Tucson Youth Nights
Redemption Tucson Youth nights are held on Sunday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30pm at the Carlson house. We have rotating rhythms that include time in the word, a middle/high school testimony, small group discussion, personal journaling time, backyard fire, games and worship. For the monthly schedule and directions, email us to sign up for our newsletter.
Meet our youth directors, Jack & Izzy!
Jack grew up in Bellevue, Washington and is the second oldest of four kids in his family. Some growing up highlights: playing baseball from age 5-19, twice attending a summer long camp in Northern Wisconsin with his brother, getting baptized his sophomore summer after Young Life camp in Malibu, BC. He attended University of Arizona in 2012 and studied Finance and Public Health. Redemption Tucson became his home church as soon as it launched and he coached little league with Pastor Dave his senior year. After college, he joined staff with Cru and served on a global missions team in East Asia for 2 years.
Izzy was born in Latvia and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was young. Her family is ethnically Russian and she grew up attending a Russian Evangelical church in the greater Los Angeles area. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she got involved with a campus ministry, Cru. She has had a heart for missions work since her teenage years. With Cru, she spent two years with college students in East Asia on the same team as her now husband, Jack.
Since coming back from East Asia, Jack and Izzy got married and joined full-time staff with Cru with the intentions of returning back to East Asia long-term. This plan had to be adjusted with a baby on the way and a global pandemic. Jack and Izzy moved to Tucson in March 2020 excited to be back at Redemption Tucson. They now have two kids, Penelope and Malachi. Izzy stays home with them and Jack helps individuals and families steward their finances.
Jack and Izzy are passionate about seeing young people know Jesus deeply, walk with Him daily and feel known by Him through real community.
Volunteer With Us
We want our youth to be able to learn from other believers who are walking ahead them. This can happen through volunteers participating in our weekly meetings, leading group discussions and/or regularly mentoring the youth. If you would like to volunteer with Redemption Youth, you can fill out the volunteer interest form below or email Jack and Izzy for more information.
