Outward Focus Ministries
We believe that all of life is all for Jesus and therefore all of life is an opportunity to honor Jesus and engage in His mission. That being said, as a church we are pointedly committing to partnering and engaging a variety of things that we call Outward Focus Ministries. These ministries are not all that we do (for example we financially partner with Corazón Ministries and Hands of Hope), nor should they be, but they are tangible expressions of our calling to be salt & light as the people of God in our city & world.
safford
We are very thankful that we get to meet for our Sundays services in a historic public school in the heart of the city. Safford School is a beautiful, yet underfunded, school serving predominantly under-resourced students. We seek to bless and encourage the school, faculty, students, and families who call Safford home.
Safford School is our primary Outward Focus Ministry – from mentorship relationships, service projects, giving generously, to volunteering at the school, we invite others to participate in these activities as a tangible expression of seeking the good of our city and loving our neighbor.
There are many areas of brokenness in our city — from racism, to poverty, to human trafficking, to unplanned pregnancies, to refugees. If you have a heart for these deep wounds, they all show up in some form at Safford. Join us in being good news to the school we call home.
foster care & adoption
Foster Care & Adoption is one of the things Redemption at large has committed to partner with in a long-term capacity. There is an orphan crisis in Tucson and around the world. Children who have lost parents, been abandoned by parents, or been taken out of dangerous environments, are in need of stable homes and loving families. James tells us that caring for vulnerable children such as these is close to the heart of God. Therefore we, the people of God, must lead the way in recognizing this great need and stepping up to meet it.
champions in action guatemala
We are very excited to have the opportunity to continually partner and serve in Guatemala with “Champions In Action”. Champions In Action is an organization that provides year-long soccer mentorship as well as summer soccer camps to at-risk youth. Specifically, it targets those who are most susceptible to gang participation, drug/alcohol abuse, and violence (Guatemala’s capital, Guatemala City is one of the deadliest cities in the world). A little investment makes a lot of difference!
We partner by helping put on one of these summer camps and serving as mentors/coaches to:
Help train these youth in the game of soccer
Build their interpersonal skills, leadership, and self-confidence
Get them plugged into a mentorship relationship with a mentor from a church in their neighborhood
Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a personal + tangible way
