As we wrap up 2023 and look forward to 2024, we are excited to put something before our congregation to engage in together as a church family: 90-days of intentional prayer and fasting. Please see the letter below from Pastor Dave Goffeney and click on the short video to learn more!
Hi Redemption Tucson!
Prayer: We will individually and collectively ask the Lord to lead us with greater clarity and conviction about who He's calling us to be and how He wants us to participate in His mission. We will use different ways of engaging in prayer; in person, on-line, through social media, and on our own. Each week throughout the 90 days we will focus on a specific issue, subject or aspect of life within our church or throughout our community. The Lord loves to hear from His children and we expect to see Him provide more than we can ask or imagine (Matthew 7:7-11; Ephesians 3:20-21). Even more than asking God to do what we want, we expect Him to further align our hearts to His.
Fasting: While we have freedom to enjoy so many good gifts our Father has given, we follow Jesus' lead by intentionally giving something(s) up for a season in order to press more deeply into our dependence on God (Matthew 4:1-11). All throughout the Old and New Testaments we see God's people abstaining from various things for a variety of reasons. We will leave it up to each person to pray and consider what food, drink, &/or activity God is inviting you to give up. Some examples include meat, sweets, alcohol, soda, video games, social media, music/radio. Whatever it is, we encourage you to listen to how God is inviting you into further intimacy and dependence on Him, rather than just white-knuckling it in your own power.
